KEX-WP-17
Observer, Foreground, and Residue in Cosmological Inference
A falsifiable KEX wrapper around established cosmological likelihoods
Abstract
This paper isolates the cosmology branch. It distinguishes coordinate origin from physical origin, formalises source/observer/foreground/environment/residue terms, and proposes a state-space residual extension around a standard ΛCDM forward model. The paper requires baseline likelihood reproduction, coordinate invariance, injected-foreground recovery, complexity penalties, held-out prediction, and independent replication. It does not claim a new force, matter component, expansion law, or replacement for general relativity.
1. Problem and scope
Coordinate labels are chart choices; physical claims concern invariants and observables. Excluding zero from the KEX active topology does not delete zero-valued coordinates from general relativity or cosmological data.
Planck’s published ΛCDM parameter results supply a stringent comparator. A KEX analysis must reproduce the selected data release, masks, foreground, calibration, and likelihood before adding parameters.
Residue memory is meaningful only when it has units, dynamics, priors, and a discriminating observable. Otherwise it is an unconstrained narrative term.
2. Formal model
y_t=g(θ_ΛCDM)+Fα+M_oβ+Br_t+ε_t    (1)
r_{t+1}=λr_t+κu_t+η_t (2)
H_0: B=0 or κ=0; H_1: residue term enabled (3)
All symbols in these equations are local to this paper unless explicitly imported from Series Paper 01. A compatibility numeral such as zero may appear in ranks, matrices, encodings, distances, statistics, or projected outputs without becoming an untyped KEX active state.
3. Results and claim register
4. Architecture or state mapping
5. Application and cross-domain translation
The KEX ledger can improve reproducibility by binding data versions, masks, coordinate transforms, priors, seeds, and likelihood code. That is an engineering contribution even if the residue model is rejected.
The wake-shell and recursive-field interpretations in the monograph remain hypotheses until translated into quantitative observables that beat standard explanations.
Cross-domain reuse is accepted only as a structure-preserving mapping. Similar words or diagrams are insufficient: the mapping must preserve identity, allowed transitions, observer/environment terms where relevant, and the authoritative proof boundary.
6. Experimental programme
7. Falsifiers and failure conditions
•	Failure to reproduce the baseline blocks all new-physics claims.
•	If residue absorbs known foreground, the extension fails.
•	If gain disappears out of sample or under complexity penalty, the extension is rejected.
8. Conclusion
The cosmology program is credible only as a staged, falsifiable extension around established inference. KEX’s immediate value is typed observer and provenance control; physical discovery remains open.
